DHL GoGreen Plus: Together towards a more sustainable future

DHL Group continues its journey towards sustainability with the GoGreen Plus service, which allows customers in Bosnia and Herzegovina to reduce CO2 emissions associated with their shipments by using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This service, available through MyDHL+ platform, provides flexibility, enabling customers to choose emission reductions for each individual shipment.

Starting from January 2024, customers can also select a contractually defined reduction of CO2 emissions for all international shipments. The GoGreen Plus service is the result of DHL's collaboration with SAF fuel suppliers, enabling a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of up to 80%, compared to conventional fuels. One of the features of the GoGreen Plus service is that, in a "book-and-claim" system, GoGreen Plus users worldwide can benefit from SAF, regardless of where it is sourced or which aircraft uses this fuel. DHL Express currently accepts SAF at airports around the world, including Amsterdam Schiphol (Netherlands), Stockholm Arlanda Airport (Sweden), Brussels Airport (Belgium), East Midlands Airport (UK), Los Angeles International Airport (USA), Leipzig Airport (Germany), Miami International Airport (USA), San Francisco International Airport (USA), Stansted Airport (UK), and Central Japan International Airport (Nagoya, Japan).

After a successful 2024, DHL has continued to strongly promote the GoGreen Plus service in 2025. An increasing number of customers are opting for this service and recognizing the benefits of operating with less environmental damage. This year, DHL began issuing the first certificates to customers who used the contracted service during 2024.

Mr. Edin Emšo, Country Manager of DHL Express Bosnia and Herzegovina, said: “Our customers want to reduce their CO2 emissions. With GoGreen Plus, we provide them with the opportunity to achieve this. Additionally, DHL is the first company in Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce electric cargo vehicles for delivery. All shipments for Sarajevo Film Festival are delivered using fully electric vehicles, whose batteries are partially charged with electricity generated from our own solar panels. I am extremely pleased that Sarajevo Film Festival, through collaboration with DHL, is using GoGreen Plus service for all its shipments in 2025. This will provide Sarajevo Film Festival not only with a measurable report for its CO2 footprint, but also with a certificate indicating the precise amount of CO2 reduction (insetting) thanks to sustainable aviation fuel. Another joint step towards sustainable business goals.”

DHL is committed to sustainability, among other initiatives, by installing solar panels at its central facility in Sarajevo and motivating employees to participate in recycling by separating waste. The goal is to achieve zero CO2 emissions in transportation by 2050, with an interim goal of using 30% SAF by 2030.

Together, through the GoGreen Plus service, DHL and its customers can contribute to a more sustainable future
